Bat Cave

Bat cave is located on the Cloud 9 Ranch Club property just off of Tyson Trail near Cold Cave.   A friend allowed me to scan in these photos that were taken November 1984.  I was in Bat Cave several years ago but I don't remember seeing the images that are in these photos.  It is my hope the reason is that I didn't go into the cave far enough.  I hope people haven't destroyed this beautiful cave over the years.  I have added the photographer's comment, that were on the back of the photos, next to each photo.

Click on the small photos to see the photo full size.

Draperies and soda straws

Moss on cave popcorn near entrance of cave.

Flowstone. A frozen Niagara.

"Sentries" from slightly different angle.

Large columns at far left. Short columns that have fused together in center rear. Small soda straws and a few stalagtites on roof. Small stalagmite

A row of large, live columns at entrance to another passage (the Sentries)

Shiney droplets of water at open end of still growing soda straws.

Entrance to Batt Cave

Opening to a long passage not tall enough to walk through.

A look into room (passage) guarded by large columns, shows more soda straws, small columns in a variety of shapes and stalagmites.

Ceiling glistening with moisture on popcorn and soda straws. Stalagmites center right. Flowstone lower right.

Small white dome of cave onyx about the size of a scoop of ice cream.

Flowstone with a great variety of colors.

Small soda straws, many broken off by hand of man that destroys so much of the beauty that nature takes cneturies to buils.

Passage 1 foot by 2 foot opening.

Draperies (elephant ears) many broken off by unthinking people.
